Don’t jump into murky or unfamiliar waters! The unknown can harbour dangers.

Jumping into unknown waters can lead to serious injury. Head and back injuries, in particular, can have fatal consequences. If you do need to jump into unknown waters as part of a rescue or recovery operation, always jump feet first to avoid plunging deep into the water.

Other hazards, such as tree stumps, branches and underwater rocks, are not always visible. Particular care must be taken after heavy storms.
